About the author<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pang Lai Kwan<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently a professor in the Department of Cultural and Religious Studies at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, with a PhD in Comparative Literature from Washington University in St. Louis. After graduating, she has been teaching in Hong Kong. Her research areas include Hong Kong cinema, visual culture, discourses on intellectual property, and Mao-era China as well as global Maoism. Her Chinese publications include The Art of Cloning:Creative Production During China\u2019s Cultural Revolution (2017), Sunset Not Yet: Post-1997 Hong Kong Cinema (2010; 2018), and an upcoming monograph on the Umbrella Movement. She received the Chinese University Research Excellence Award in 2008 and the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation Scholarly Publication Award in 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zhang Chuntian<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a PhD from the Division of Humanities at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, he has undertaken research visits or short-term teaching positions at Heidelberg University in Germany, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and the University of British Columbia in Canada. He is currently teaching in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at East China Normal University.His authored works include Revolution and Lyricism and Women\u2019s Liberation and Modern Imagination. He has edited volumes such as A Reader on \u201cLate Qing Literature\u201d Studies, A Century of Overseas Scholarship, and An Alternative History of Academia. He has also translated works including The Distorting Mirror: Visual Modernity in China and Zhang Taiyan\u2019s Political Philosophy.
